Liam Cotter Presents: SMUT

About Smut: is a group exhibition of sexually charged art from the erotic to the pornographic curated by Liam Cotter , produced by Solas Studio, to be staged at Con Artist Collective . Artists are invited to submit art in all media (photos, drawings, paintings, sculptures, multi-media/interactive and performance). Smut will collect and showcase art which celebrates all the varied expressions of human sexuality. Art that makes the heart rate quicken.


WHAT TO SUBMIT: Erotic or artfully pornographic; photography, video, painting, drawing, mix media, sculpture, drawing, digital art, installations, virtual reality, and/or performance.

SELECTIONS ANNOUNCED: January 29 2019

FEES & COMISSIONS: The fee is $10 for first 5 images/pieces.  Additional blocks of 5 images/pieces can be submitted for an additional $5 per set of five, to a maximum of 25 images/pieces. All work will be offered for sale. Artists shall receive 70 percent of the final sale price of any work or related merchendise sold at the show and the curator shall retain 30 percent as commission.

File Guidelines: Please name your file(s) in following format: LASTNAME_FIRSTNAME_TITLE_SIZE (INCHES).

File(s) must be JPEGs set to 1000 pixels on the longest side, at 100 dpi.

Sculptures and Multi-Media: each individual work will be regarded as one piece. Please submit photos at different angles or clips as required to fully illustrate the piece/installation to the curators.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

  • Artists must seek approval to present work larger than 20" x 30" including frame.

  • All work must be professionally presented (framed or dry mounted), and include all necessary material for hanging (french cleats or picture wire). Unframed or unmounted work will not be accepted.

  • All work must be for sale. The artist will receive 70 percent of the final sale price.

  • We recommend beginning to print and frame work as soon as selections are announced, by Jan. 29th.

  • Solas Studio offers discounted printing services for those in need, pricing depends on print size (sq/ft) and paper grade.


TERMS & CONDITIONS:

By submitting and/or participating, all artists agree to be bound by these terms.

All content of and participation in SMUT is subject to change and is at the sole discretion of the curator(s).

All artworks are to be offered for sale to the public and in the event that a sale occurs the artist and the curator(s) shall split the sale price. The artist shall receive 70 percent of the sale price and the curators shall receive 30 percent of the sale price. 

In the event that an artist receives financial or other assistance in the completion, presentation, transportation or other cost associated with their artwork and said artwork is sold, curator will be reimbursed in full for said costs out of the sale price, the remainder will follow the aforementioned 70/30 split.

Artists are solely responsible for promptly transporting work to/from pickup and drop off locations as applicable. Any work left after the pickup times will be assessed a storage fee of $10 per week. Any work left over 2 months will be considered abandoned and will be disposed of.

Curator(s) and gallery will not be responsible for wear and tear sustained by pieces as hung, displayed, and/stored.

All work must be delivered in resealable protective packaging, with the participants NAME, PHONE NUMBER, and ADDRESS clearly written or typed attached to the back of the frame or on any component piece of the work.
