Artist Statement:

Nothing tells a story quite like the human face. Nothing captures that story better than portraiture! At the heart of what I do, I’m a storyteller. I admire people… so much so that I want to tell their story. Sadly, I learned early in life that I was a crap writer and an even worse photographer. Yet the desire to express my admiration for that person was still present and drove me to find a medium that would satisfy this overwhelming compulsion to create. I don’t look for “perfect” versions of you … I want to see the lines of time on your face. I don’t want to paint the staged, overworked, well-composed, filtered version of you … I want to see the mundane, the vulnerability, the addiction, the hard work, the exhaustion, the elation. I see people being Human. I capture people being Human. I create portraits because I am compelled to share my Human story.
