Introduction to Photo Collage Workshop w/ Adrienne Moumin (Second Session)

  • Solas Studio 117 East 24th St , Second Floor New York, NY, 10010 United States (map)

This three-session Wednesday Workshop, from 6-8:30, will delve deeply into the creation of 2-D and 3-D abstract and representational photo collage. This free-form workshop will follow the interests and objectives of the participants. The emphasis will be on inspiration, technical mastery, and translating feelings and ideas into finished work.

Using your own photographs (files of which you may upload to be produced by Solas
Studio in time for the second session), you will be able to create one or more unique
photo collages mounted on 11x14 archival boards.

All cutting implements, rulers, cutting mats, adhesive and mounting supplies, and equipment is included in the course price.

Minimum class size 4; maximum 8.
Registration will close two weeks before the start date of Session 1.
No refunds will be issued unless the class is cancelled due to insufficient enrollment.

Wednesday, October 22nd - 6:30 to 8:30pm
Session 1: Slide presentation with examples of historic through contemporary photo collage work. I will offer didactic information, and keep the floor open to questions and comments about the work we are viewing. I will have demonstration samples to share, and will introduce some of the basic cutting, arranging and adhesion methods.

Students are encouraged to bring additional decorative elements for their photo collages: crystals; beads; small paper, metal or plastic objects with flat back surfaces; anything else that inspires you.

Wednesday, October 29th - 6:30 to 8:30pm
Session 2: Participants will begin cutting and laying out their collages. Technical questions and issues are expected, and everyone will learn from them as they arise.

Wednesday, November 5th - 6:30 to 8:30pm
Session 3: Participants will work on adhering the layers of their photo collages, and end
the workshop with at least one complete or nearly complete work. There will likely be leftover photo sections to continue the work beyond the workshop.
