How to write a good bio

An artist's bio is a no-nonsense list of facts about you and your work. It should include the following information: year you were born, place of birth, your education, where you currently work now, what materials you are using to make your art (leave the conceptual stuff for the artist statement). Highlights like awards, prizes, or especially important exhibitions (not your full exhibition history).

How to write a good artist statement

An artist's statement is a brief description of your work. What it is, why you make it, and how it fits in within contemporary art history. Mention artists that have influenced you! Avoid any grandiose language, pomposity, prolonged discourse on materials or techniques. Avoid anecdotal descriptions of important life events or family unless it is very closely related to your work. Avoid technical jargon and braggadocios language that would be better suited for a press release.

The quality of your print file determines how large you can offer it as a print. Print files should be at 300dpi and accurate to the largest size you want to offer. We prefer .PDF and .TIF (lossless) file formats. Don't have a quality print file for your work yet?
